Enjoy Irish Culture ezine, December 2013 issue January 01, 2014 |
Dear readers, welcome to the first newsletter of 2014. First of all, we would like to wish you a very happy and prosperous New Year. May 2014 be a special year for you, fulfilling at least some of your dreams. Now let me alert you to some new pages we have created in the last month. Enjoy Irish Culture now has a facility for visitors to the site to submit their favourite Ireland travel photos. We will develop these into an online gallery. Why not submit some of yours? We'd love a hand in getting this project off the ground. We have some new content also. Find out about our visit to Kilkenny Castle, the medieval phase of the castle, and changes to the castle under the Butler Family. And last but not least, one of our favourite medieval Ireland topics- Have you met the gallowglass warriors? No? Never heard of them? Let us fill you in. What were they? To cut a long story short, gallowglass were the Irish equivalent of the Samurai! Trained mercenaries, in the service of local chieftains and war lords. Find out fascinating facts about them here. If you enjoy our regular newsletter, you may also be interested in becoming a Facebook Fan (EnjoyIrishCulture)for an interactive experience of daily posts on Irish interest items. We'd appreciate your support in building up our FB audience. As a pay off, being a FB fan will give you access to regular competitions we are running on the page. Come and join in! If you like Pinterest, (IrishCultureJoy)come and join us there and see our large boards on various Irish interest topics. Thanks very much for subscribing, have a great month of January and please spread the word! Regards from Susanna and Colm
